Abstract
389,479. Pumps for cement &c. NATIONAL EQUIPMENT CORPORATION, 30th Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, U.S.A. Sept. 9, 1931, No. 25323. Convention date, June 4. [Class 102 (i).] Filling-material is injected into foundations beneath road or pavement surfaces by means of pumping apparatus. The material is supplied through a hopper 5 to a mixing chamber 2 where it is agitated by rotary blades 36 on a shaft 38 driven by a belt 45 capable of slip from a power unit 7, and passes to a further mixing chamber 3 which is separated by a baffle 4 from the main chamber, so that only the thoroughly mixed material may flow over the baffle. The material in the chamber 3 is fed to reciprocating pumps 11, Fig. 3, the pistons 17 of which are hollow and are loose on the piston-rods 19 which are operated by beam arms 32 driven from cranks 35, worm gearing 48 and belt gearing 46 from the main mixing shaft 38, cushioning springs 29 being interposed between the valves and pistons. The heads 21 of the piston-rods thus act as valves for the pumps which supply the material continuously to a conduit through check valves 51 and thence to a nozzle, which is anchored to the pavement by the internal pressure. All the parts are mounted on a unitary frame structure 8 formed as shown in Fig. 5. Specification 383,680, [Group X], is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a water pump 55, Fig. 6 (Cancelled), driven through belt gearing 63 from the mixing shaft 38, a byepass 60 being provided in the supply pipe so that when the supply cock 59 to the mixing chamber is turned off, the water is returned to the source of supply, the pump working continuously. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
