Abstract
389,437. Parachute fastenings. LABRIQUE, G., 24, Rue Bosquet, Brussels. June 8, 1931, No. 16653. Convention date, May 1. Addition to 384,284. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 44.] Fastenings for parachutes comprise a cover member 2 fastened to a base 3, and provided with openings 2a, 2b for the insertion of clasps for the seat attachment and for the parachute respectively. A washer 7 fitting in the interior of the cover 2 on a level with the openings 2a is provided with a spring 24 mounted on a stud 7d and adapted to urge a tongue 25 passing through openings 2k in the cover 2 in the direction shown by the arrows, Fig. 6. A disc 9, which is urged towards the washer 7 by the action of a spring 10, is provided with pins 9a adapted to engage holes 7a in the washer. Inclined faces 9h on the pins 9a facilitate insertion of the clasps for the seat attachment in the holes 2a against the action of the spring 10, until a hole provided in each clasp is retained by the corresponding pin. The clasps for the seat attachment are released by depressing a button 11, the end 11a of which contacts with the disc 9. The clasps for the parachute are held in a similar manner by pins 12a secured to a disc 12, which is urged towards a washer 13 by the spring 10. The parachute clasps are unlocked by means of a rotatable member 15 provided with a pin 16 engaging a cam 17 integral with the cover 2. By rotating the member 15, the disc 12 is moved upwards through the medium of screws 17a engaging a groove 12d formed on a pivot 12f secured to the disc 12. Accidental rotation of the member 15 is prevented by means of a stop 18 carried by a flexible strip 19. The button 11 fits in a circular aperture in the member 15, and is provided with a flange 11d securing the retention therein. Projections 9t mounted on the disc 9 pass through a groove 25b and a slot 25d in the tongue 25, and also through holes 7f in the washer 7. When the pin 16 is in the position for locking the parachute clasps, rotation of the member 15 is prevented by means of the projections 9f, until by depressing the button 11 to unlock the seat attachment these projections are also depressed out of the way of the pin 16. When the disc 9 is in the position in which the seat attachment clasps are unlocked, it is maintained in this position by the fact that the tongue 25, the edge of the central aperture 25f of which previously abutted against the face 11b of the flange 11d, is displaced by the spring 24 until the edge of the aperture 25f abuts against the body of the button 11. The disc 9 is then prevented from coming back into its locking position until the tongue 25 is pressed back by hand from the outside of the cover 2.
