Abstract
In a modification of the process described in the parent Specification the deoxidizer, e.g. boride of calcium, aluminium, or silicon is added wholly or in part to the molten copper as it is being poured into the vessel lined with protective refractory material. A small amount of the deoxidizer may be sprinkled over the surface of the vessel and copper foil capsules containing the boride or, alternatively, compressed pellets of the boride and copper filings or dust, are added to a stream of tough pitch copper as it enters the vessel.
