Abstract

388,316. Force - feed lubricating. NEMETZ, G., 21, Marxergasse, FRIEDMANN, L., FRIEDMANN, M., and .SCHOPP, N., (trading as FRIEDMANN, A.), 6, Am Tabor, both in Vienna. Aug. 12, 1932, No. 22652. [Class 12 (iii).] Oil supplied under pressure to the verticallyarranged chamber 2 of a casing 1 through a pipe 4 connected thereto at the bottom lifts a loosely-fitting ball 3 arranged within the chamber until it closes an outlet passage 7, a spring-loaded non-return valve 8 being arranged above the passage 7, whereby a predetermined quantity of oil is delivered to the part to be lubricated. When the supply pressure is relieved, the ball 3 falls to its lowermost position and the valve 8 closes. The closing movement of the latter creates a back pressure in the passage 7 tending to dislodge the ball 3, and this effect may be increased by forming the valve with a piston-like projection 11 adapted to enter the passage 7. Alternatively, the valve may have an extension adapted to contact with and positively dislodge the ball ; or the length of the passage 7 may be so small that the valve 8, constructed as a ball, is itself adapted to contact with the ball 3 ; or the ball 3 may be dislodged by a separate spring.
