Abstract

388,138. Fly-screens. JOHNSTON, L. C., 143, Castlereagh Street, Sydney, Australia. Nov. 23, 1931, No. 32417. [Class 52 (v).] A fly-screen 6 is wound upon a roller 7 rotated by pinions 12 engaging cambered racks 16, the other end of the blind being secured to top of the window or opening. The racks are housed in recesses in cambered members 2, secured to the sides of the window &c. opening, and spring tensioning means for the screen is provided. In the construction shown the roller 7 carries, at each end, a fixed pin 10 to which the pinion 12 is secured, the pin passing through an aperture in member 11 having a flange 19 slidably engaging a guideway 18 in the member 2 to maintain the pinion contact with the rack. The distance between each rack and the surface 9 of the adjacent member 2 upon which the screen rests is varied to allow for the alterations in the diameter of the roller and screen. The other end of the screen is secured to the top of the window &c. opening by helical springs 4. In a modification these springs are dispensed with and this screen tensioned by spiral springs which connect the pins 10 with the roller.
