[Class 94 (i).] The overlapping ends 1, 2 of a bale band are interlocked by the formation of longitudinal folds and are subsequently twisted to form right and lefthanded twists. The twisting may be performed by the engagement of a slotted pinion with a flattened portion 3. In a modification, the interlocked ends are stamped or crimped intothe form of two or more substantial lengths of interlocked screw threads.
