Abstract
387,837. Cooling disc-brakes. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., 28, Kingsway, London, and DICKINSON, G., 153, Ravenscliffe Avenue, Eccleshill, Bradford, Yorkshire. Feb. 4, 1932, No. 3346. [Class 103 (i).] A brake wheel, mounted on the armature shaft of an electric motor and adapted to be engaged on opposite faces by a pair of brake shoes 6 moved towards one another, includes two perforated discs 8 united by a boss 3 and a plurality of radial webs extending from the boss to the circumferences of the discs and shorter webs 5 being situated therebetween so as to induce a radial outflow of air entering the space between the discs. Upward movement of levers 7 applies the brake due to rotation of cams 12 which turn levers 10 carrying the brake shoes 6. A spring 13 connects the levers 10 and equalizing mechanism is preferably employed to equalize the movements of the outer ends of the levers 7.
