Abstract
387,746. Cases or holders for lipsticks &c. MARKSTEIN, R. P., 53, Lainzerstrasse, Vienna. Sept. 16, 1931, No. 25958. Convention date, Sept. 16, 1930. [Class 18.] A case or holder for cosmetic pencils, such as lipsticks, comprises two casings a, b adapted to slide relatively to one another, the casing b being provided with a carrier r for the pencil f and with a flexible member g adapted to open and close the aperture c in the casing a through which the pencil is projected when the casings are telescoped together. The member g may consist of a thin metal strip attached to the carrier r and guided by metal plates or wires h fixed to the casing a, the strip being provided with an opening adapted to be brought into register with the aperture c. To compensate for wear, the pencil may be mounted in a slide movable in the carrier r, the slide being operated by a button e working in a slot d in the casing. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 the slot d is normally covered by a spring-pressed metal strip to prevent the entry of dust, the strip being displaced, when the pencil is advanced, by tho engagement of the pin of button e with the slanting lower edge of the strip. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
