387,410. Maintaining defined speeds of motors ; electromagnetic switches. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London, GARTON, C. G., 56, Park Road, and WIDNALL, F., 95, Grosvenor Road, both in Rugby.. Sept. 3, 1931, No. 24782. [Classes 38 (iii) and 38 (v).] Means for maintaining the speed of a shaft constant comprises a disc 1 mounted upon the shaft and rotating between magnetic poles 7, 8 pivoted upon an axis 5. The magnets carry a contact 10 which is biased by a spring &c. towards a fixed contact. The contacts are placed in a circuit influencing the speed of the shaft. The shaft may be driven by an induction disc type electric motor as described in Specification 193,752, [Class 40 (ii), Phonographs &c.], and the contacts may vary the resistance of a motor winding. Specification 149,922, [Class 38 (v), Electric switches &c.], is referred to.
