386,811. Refrigerating. ELECTROLUX, Ltd., 153, Regent Street, London.- (Assignees of Dablgren, S. A. B. ; 33, Hockebyvõgan, Alsten, Sweden.) Feb. 25, 1932, No. 5664. Convention date, Feb. 25, 1931. [Class 29.] The cool strong liquor from the absorber of a continuous-cycle inert gas system exchanges heat simultaneously with the hot weak liquor and the hot vapours expelled from the generator 1, the vapours being rectified thereby. The strong liquor flows through a jacket space 18 around the hot vapour pipe 5, the weak liquor being passed through a pipe 4 formed as a coil immersed in the strong liquor in the jacket. Condensed solvent collects in pools formed by baffles 12 in the conduit 5 and flows back to the generator through a series of pipes 13, the hot vapours being compelled to pass through the liquid. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 1, the jacket has a number of vent pipes 14 through which vapour expelled from strong solution may pass back to the generator, and liquor flows through a pipe 15 to the generator. In the arrangemeht shown in Fig. 2, an extension of the liquor heat exchanger is formed as a concentric tube coil 26 around the upper part of a tall generator, which it serves in part to insulate, and the expelled vapour rises through analyser plates 24 within the generator over which the entering strong liquor flows. Refrigerant condensed in the exchanger collects in an end chamber 21 and passes on to the main condenser. The generator may be surrounded by a jacket 27, Fig. 2, for products of combustion from a burner 23, and the apparatus may be air cooled. The invention may also be applied to reabsorption non-condensing systems. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also the application to systems in which the strong liquor is circulated by a pump under the control of a float. A diaphragm pump or a piston pump driven by electromagnetic pulsations may be used, and regulating valves in the condensate and liquor pipes may be sealed by diaphragms, to minimize leakage. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
