Abstract
386,070. Sinks. ACME WRINGERS, Ltd. and BURT, J. W., 97, David Street, Bridgeton, Glasgow. Oct. 29, 1931, No. 29969. [Class 26.] A household equipment for washing and drying clothes, dishes, &c. and for other domestic operations comprises a pair of tubs 1, 2 forming a unit and arranged side by side over a pressed steel cupboard having legs 11 and supporting a motor 15 which drives water and air circulating means for at least one tub and also drives other domestic appliances. One tub 1 may be deeper than the other and is provided with internal vertical corrugations 6 and the inlet and outlet of the pump (not shown) driven by the motor are connected to this tub. The motor is provided with a high-speed shaft 16 and a low-speed shaft 17 and the pump is driven from the lower end of the high-speed shaft. The pump may circulate water for washing clothes or dishes &c., the latter being carried in a rack placed within the tub 1, whilst for drying, the water is drained away, a cover is placed over the tub and the pump circulates air heated by a heating element in the motor casing. The cover may be provided on its underside with means for attaching the clothes &c. to be dried as shown in Fig. 6, and instead of being placed directly on the deep tub may be placed on the top of a cabinet 22 fitted on the top of the deep tub. When the shallow tub 2 is used for dish-washing by hand a drainboard is placed over the deep tub. Each tub is provided with a drain plug 12, soap recesses 8 and hot and cold water taps 9, 10. The lowspeed shaft of the motor may actuate an ironing machine, a food-mixing machine, a brushing- machine, or a wringer which may be secured to the partition 13 between the tubs.
