Abstract

385,481. Coffee-infusion machines. GRILLI, I., 21, Via Crocifisso, Milan, Italy. March 8, 1932, No. 6976. [Class 129.] A machine for the automatic preparation of coffee comprises two chambers 3, 4 which move in an orbit in which each chamber successively receives ground coffee in one position, steam and water at another position, and in a third position, is over a discharge pipe at which the used grounds are washed out by a steam and water jet. The chambers 3, 4 are connected in a figure-of-8- shape and rotate about a vertical spindle 75 passing through a box 32. In the position shown in Fig. 1, the chamber 4 is receiving ground coffee from the shoot 68, and the chamber 3, having received coffee, is receiving a jet of steam and water from the pipe 36. The infusion is delivered through the filter 63 and pipe 51. In an intermediate position, the emptied chamber 3 is positioned over a discharge pipe and the exhausted coffee grounds are washed out by a steam and water jet. The device is operated by an electric motor 17.
