Abstract

383,985. Current and pressure meters. THOMAS, B. and THOMAS, E., Worsley Street, Hulme, Manchester. Aug. 24, 1931, No. 23692. [Class 37.] In a system for controlling substation apparatus from a remote station comprising a pair of pilot wires 7, 9 containing control relays, the pilot wires are connected at the substation to a shunt YX supplied from an instrument transformer CS1 so that the input current to the apparatus may be measured by an ammeter A at the control station. The output voltage is read by a voltmeter V which measures the p.d. between the tapping point C of a resistance 9, 100 and a neutral conductor, the resistance being connected between neutral and one output main. The shunt YX may be fed through an instrument rectifier thus facilitating the use of a moving coil ammeter at the control station.
