Abstract
383,921. Diaphragms. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, 13D, Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. July 7, 1932, No. 19250. Convention date, July 14, 1931. [Class 40 (iv).] The edge of an acoustic diaphragm is formed with concentric ribs interrupted at intervals by plane portions. As shown, the diaphragm consists of a conical portion 1 surrounded by a flange 2, 3 which is secured to the cone by its conical portion 4. The part 2 of the flange is flat whilst the part 3 is furnished with concentric ribs 5 which are interrupted by radially extending plane portions 6. The ribs are of triangular section and preferably have apical angles of not less than 140‹ and the distance between the plane interruptions is preferably such that the arc formed by a portion of ribs situated between two successive interruptions is approximately the same as the corresponding chord. The flange can be pressed in one piece and in a single operation or the plane portions are produced by punching out the intermediate parts, the blank spaces so obtained being filled with separately formed ribbed parts of the same or different material.
