Abstract
383,537. Contacts ; sparking-preventing. SIEMENS - SCHUCKERTWERKE AKT.-GES., Siemenstadt, Berlin. April 9, 1932, No. 10234. Convention date, April 10, 1931. [Class 38 (v).] In a rotary switch of the kind in which the contacts of the clip and blade type are arranged in superimposed compartments, one arm of each clip is of thin springy metal while the co-operating arm is of rigid metal of greater mass and thermal capacity and of greater peripheral extent so that contact is made and broken at the rigid contact which is better able to absorb and dissipate the heat formed on arcing. In the form shown, the blade contacts 1 are stationary while the bridging contact clips 2 are mounted on an operating spindle. Each clip consists of a rigid sectorshaped bridge member having contact surfaces 4, 5 and a springy member with contact surfaces 6, 7. These are mounted in pairs on an insulating bush to co-operate with a blade contact. As shown in Figs. 2 and 3, the rigid contacts are of greater extent and so overlap the springy, contacts.
