Abstract

383,070. Moulding saggers or like pottery supports. EDWARDS, W. H., Burnside, Rough Close, Stoke-on-Trent, and CONNELLY, W. T., Hartwell, Sneyd Avenue, Newcastle-under- Lyme. Nov. 20, 1931, No. 32225. [Class 87 (ii).] The movement of the vertically moving die in a machine for moulding saggers, also controls the feeding and delivery mechanism so that the whole operations of the machine take place in timed relation. The downward stroke of the movable die shaft 5, effected through the agency of the crank 11 and slotted arm 9, also causes pivoted levers 24, 25 to oscillate by means of the eccentric slot 21. The lever 24 moves a rotating table 28 step by step through pawl and ratchet gear and thus enables rough blanks on the table to fall one by one through holes into a pivoted scoop 29. In addition the inward movement of the lever tilts the scoop against the action of a spring by engagement with the projection 37, thus delivering the blank to the lower die 20 as shown in Fig. 3. On the upward movement of the die shaft the lever 25 swings a delivery shoot 40 laterally into position to receive the moulded article when stripped from the die by the axial movement of spring pins 39 when they abut against the fixed head 8.
