Abstract

382,965. Word, number, &c. building-appliances. BAGGE, N., 28, Dan, marksgade, Randers, Denmark. Aug. 10- 1931, No. 22561. [Class 146 (ii).] Relates to word, number, or like building-appliances, of the kind comprising a number of parallel strips arranged adjacent one another in a baseplate so as to be longitudinally adjustable in relation to one another, the upper surfaces of the strips being provided with letters, numerals, &c. so that by adjustment of the strips different combinations of letters &c. are formed. The strips 4 are formed with longitudinal projections 3 on their lower surfaces adapted to be slidably and interchangeably engaged in grooves 2 formed in the baseplate 1 at equal distances apart, so that the strips are disposed adjacent one another without intervening spaces, while means are provided whereby two or more adjacent strips may be coupled together so a to be capable of displacement as a group. The coupling means consists of inset pins or the like, which engage transverse apertures 5 in the strips. The strips are divided into areas, each of which carries a letter &c., by means of transverse lines, and preferably the characters are so arranged that some strips carry consonants only and others vowels only. The strips are provided with manipulating handles 8 and each may be secured in any adjusted position on the baseplate by spring locking means.
