Abstract

382,496. Slicing meat. PEEL, F., Hillside, Bramcote, Nottinghamshire. Feb. 9, 1932, No. 3829. [Class 28 (ii).] The meat is held on a base 1, for hand slicing, by a bridge 9 connected to telescopic uprights 2, 3 which are either hooked under a strip 1b on the underside of the base, or in the modification shown in Fig. 3, are slidably engaged in a slot in the side of the strip 1b. In Fig. 2 the member 2 is of tubular form and houses a compression spring 5 through which the sliding member 3 is threaded. The member 3 has an operating handle 12 and a projection 7a which is engageable with one of a series of keyhole slots 8 in the downturned portion of the bridge 9. In Fig. 3, the member 3 has a hook 3a which is engaged with a hole 8a in the end of the bridge 9. A wing-nut 15 adjusts the spring 5, and the meat is released by bringing together finger grips 16, 16a. Interchangeable bases are used, the width of the base being chosen to correspond with the width of the meat. The bases may be oval in plan..
