[Class 29.] In cabinets for conserving iced foods and drinks in metal containers 10 in metallic connection with the evaporator 15 or a coldtransmitting body 14 thereon of a refrigerating apparatus, the metallic connection is readily releasable and the apparatus is arranged so that it may be withdrawn as a whole without disturbing the containers or their insulation 13. As shown the body 14, which may be a casting bolted on to the evaporator, is secured by accessible screws 24 to the containers. The evaporator is carried by the gas heat exchanger 16 of an inert gas absorption machine 18, 20 located in a compartment 17, the machine having a plate 21 secured by screws 22 to the outer covering wall of the insulation. The cooling body 14 and the container walls preferably have plane surfaces so that the machine may be withdrawn laterally through a door 23, and the space above the gas heat exchanger may be insulated by blocks 25 mounted on the machine. The adjoining faces of the insulation 13, 25 may have coverings of linen or paper to prevent adherence. The cooling-effect of the evaporator may be transmitted through a closed-cycle condensing-evaporating system, of which the condenser element is removably attached to the machine evaporator in the manner described in Specification 349,798, the machine being introduced into the cabinet from above.
