Abstract

381,074. Woven fabrics containing specially twisted yarns. GOOD ALL WORSTED CO., Sanford, Maine, U.S.A. Feb. 29, 1932, No. 6040. Convention date, June 9, 1931. [Classes 120 (iii) and 142 (iv).] A fabric is woven from threads 1 wholly or partly of mohair including the kemp fibres of the Angora fleece and multiple threads, each comprising a light yarn 6 corresponding in colour to that of the kemp fibres, and dark yarns 3, 5. The yarns 5, 6 are first doubled together to form a " two-ply strand " the light yarn 6 being fed quicker than the yarn 5 so as to have the appearance of being loosely twisted around the yarn 5, as shown in Fig. 1, and the product is then twisted with the yarn 3, both being under the same tension. When the weft is beaten up, the light-coloured yarns 6 are forced to the surface of the fabric and break up the streaky appearance thereof due to the kemp fibres in the threads 1. In spinning the threads 1, fibres of a darker colour than the natural mohair such as wool, cotton or silk, or printed or dyed mohair fibres, may be mixed with the natural mohair fibres, so as to vary the colour of the fabric woven therefrom accordingly. Preferably the threads 1 constitute the weft and the multiple threads 3, 5, 6 the warp of the fabric.
