Abstract

Acids or acid compounds are rendered effective as disinfectants by the addition thereto of a thiocyanate. Acids such as acetic, citric, tartaric and pyromucic are stated to be useful for general application; acids such as hydrochloric and sulphuric may also be used. It is stated in the Specification that thiocyanic acid, betaine thiocyanate, or pyridine-betaine thiocyanate which have an acid reaction per se may be used. The disinfectants may be used inter alia for preserving glue, paste, &c.
