Abstract
380,000. Rolling tubes. DIESCHER, S. E. and DIESCHER, A. P., (trading as DIESCHER & SONS, S.), Farmers Bank Building, Pittsburg, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Diescher, S. E. ; 724, South Negley Avenue, Pittsburg, U.S.A.) March 16, 1932, No. 7838. Convention date, April 4, 1931. [Class 83 (iv).] A tube 6 is rolled on a mandrel 5 between skew rolls 1 to reduce the wall thickness to oval shape by expanding it peripherally and d longitudinally, the final diameter being determined b y the spacing of another driven pair of rolls 2 acting between the first pair to squeeze in the oval formed, and leaving the tube loose on the mandrel. The rolls 1 may be barrel, mushroom, &c. shaped. The tubes may be of wrought iron, plain or alloy steels, stainless steel or non- ferrous metals such as copper. The tubes may be worked hot or cold.
