379,015. Apparatus for detonating blank cartridges. SIEMENS-SCHUCKERTWERKE AKT.-GES., Siemensstadt, Berlin. June 6, 1931, No. 16617. Convention date, June 7, 1930. [Classes 9 (ii), 92 (ii), and 119.] An apparatus for imitating the detonations of shot from fire-arms comprises a casing 13, Fig. 1, having a compartment 12 for containing a strip B of blank cartridges of small calibre and provided with means adapted to be operated by hand to feed forward the cartridges and successively detonate them, the whole forming an easily portable unit suitable for use at military manoeuvres. As shown in Fig. 3, the cartridge strip is formed with slits to receive the cartridges and, as shown in Fig. 1, the cartridge strip is guided over a roller 14 by a spring 15 and then passes over a guide 17 and between rollers 1, 2, which are provided with interengaging pins 10 and recesses 11, and are formed with recesses to receive the cartridges 9. The roller 2, Fig. 2, is connected by gearing 6, 7, 8 to a step-bystep gear such as a Maltese cross operated by a hand crank, and transmits rotation in the opposite direction to the roller 1 by means of the cartridges 9. The cartridges are fired when they come opposite a firing-pin 3, after which they pass out with the strip at 16.
