Abstract
378,844. Glass manufacture ; glazes. GOLDSCHMIDT AKT.-GES., 18, Salkenbergsweg, Essen, Germany. June 21, 1932, No. 17544. Convention date, Sept. 14, 1931. [Class 56.] Lead oxide which has been subjected to fusion is used for making lead glasses, glazes, or the like. The lead oxide may be obtained in powdered form and afterwards fused, or it may be prepared by blowing air over or through molten lead which is heated to a temperature higher than the melting point of the oxide. The fused oxide, after being cooled and pulverized, may be added directly to the batch or it may be combined first with silica to form lead silicate.
