Abstract
A waterproof composition for walls, roofs, and road surface treatment and which may be moulded into blocks is composed of coal tar 5-85 per cent, indiarubber 1-25 per cent, and finely-divided granite dust 5-85 per cent. The tar is boiled and the indiarubber in the form of small pieces is added slowly until dissolved, when the mixture is boiled 4-24 hours. The granite dust is added and the mass boiled a further two hours, when it may be moulded into blocks for use in a cold state in the construction of floors, or applied hot by a brush to roofs &c., or applied hot between blocks of the same material for use in floors. Several examples are given of preferred proportions for each of the purposes specified above. In the Provisional Specification the composition includes other finely-divided mineral fillers, such as coke breeze, gravel, and cement.ALSO:A waterproof composition for walls, roofs, and road surface treatment, and which may be moulded into blocks is composed of coal tar 5-85 per cent, india rubber 1-25 per cent, and finely divided granite dust, 5-85 per cent.
