Abstract
377,503. Wire resistances. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, 13D, Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. Oct. 9, 1931, No. 28143. Convention date, Oct. 16, 1930. [Class 37.] A variator resistance is wound on a supporting body which is fixed to the foot of the tube in which the wire is enclosed, the leading-in wires being taken out at opposite ends of the tube. The tube 1 shown has two feet 3, 14, each of which carries a supporting body by means of a metal band 4. Each supporting body comprises rods 17, 18 passing through mica discs 15, 16, steatite tubes 8 being slipped over the rods. The resistance wire 10 is wound around these tubes, the turns engaging grooves therein. The ends of the rods 17, 18 remote from the feet 14, 3 engage a mica disc 19, and are staggered to provide an increased leakage path. Alternatively the rods 17, 18 may not extend to the centre of the tube 1, the space between them being bridged by insulating material. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes also a modification shown in Fig. 1 (Cancelled), in which the support is carried by one foot 3 only, both leading-in wires 11, 12 being taken out at the same end of the tune. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
