Abstract
<PICT:0377337/III/1> In a vacuum crystallizing plant in which the solution is circulated continuously between a heater 8, a vacuum evaporator 1 and a settling tank 4 under atmospheric pressure, the deposit collecting at the bottom of the tank 4 is removed by a rake 6 into a pipe 10 from which it is pumped by a pump 10<1> to a mechanical grader 11, e.g. a Dorr thickener, in which the coarse crystals are removed by a rake 12 to a centrifuge 13 while the fines are returned through a pipe 14 to the tank 4. The overflow from the tank 4 is returned to the heater 8 through a pipe 7 where it mixes with the incoming solution supplied through a pipe 9 and with the liquid separated in the centrifuge supplied through a pipe 15.
