Abstract
375,672. Enamels and glazes. KREIDL, 1., 5, Sebastian Kohlgasse, Vienna. Oct. 29, 1931, No. 29981. Convention date, March 12. Addition to 375,670. [Class 56]. Relates to the process for producing opaque white enamels and glazes, described in the parent Specification, in which the chemical composition of the frit is such that it is colloidal, or in a finely-divided condition approximating thereto, in the slip. According to the present invention, the colloidal condition is obtained by increasing the ratio of alkali to boric oxide until it is considerably higher than usual. A minimum of two parts of alkali to one part of boric oxide is suitable, but the preferred ratio is between 3 : 1 and 5:1. The aluminium content is preferably increased, also, by the addition of clay, felspar, or the like to the batch. An example of a suitable mixture is given in the Specification.
