Abstract
373,781. Casting composite articles. KLÍCKNER - WERKE AKT.-GES. ABTEILUNG GEORGS-MARIEN-WERKE, 51, Moserstrasse, Osnabr³ck, Germany. May 21, 1931, No. 15081. Convention date, Nov. 1, 1930. [Class 83 (i).] To avoid extensive mixing of two kinds of metal, in casting compound ingots &c., by overflowing the one or two ordinary division plates A, Fig. 2, an auxiliary plate or plates B, which extend above the main plate or plates, is or are employed. The auxiliary plate B, Fig. 7, extends to the bottom instead of to the top of the mould so that the metal can overflow it. In a modification, the main plate A is of the same height as the auxiliary plate B but has notches or holes G, Fig. 5, at the top to reduce its effective height. The auxiliary plates may be perforated like the main plates or may comprise wires or metal strips arranged to form sheets. The suspended plates B, Fig. 2, may be of fireclay, wood, asbestos, cardboard, &c. and may be withdrawn after casting. Moulds.-The moulds may be filled by gates El, E<2>.
