Abstract
373,776. Electric discharge lamps forming a source of light. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London, and HARRIS, W. L.; of General Electric Co., Wembley, Middlesex. May 20, 1931, No. 14925. [Class 75 (iv).] A source of light consists of a combination of a hot cathode neon lamp and a high-pressure (exceeding 30 mm.) hot cathode mercury lamp wholly or partly surrounded by a screen of uranium glass or like fluorescent material. The glass screen may contain to 8 per cent by weight of uranium and it may form part or all of the envelope of the mercury lamp. The neon lamp may produce 5 to 20 per cent of the light produced by the mercury lamp and the two lamps may be placed in a diffusing enclosure.
