[Classes 43 and 112.] A combined buckle and bodkin for tapes and the like comprises an elongated plate 1 having rounded corners and a rounded nose la and adapted to be readily passed through a hem or the like. The plate is formed with transverse narrow central apertures 2, 2a, and a narrow transverse slot 3 opening on to a longitudinal edge, the slot and apertures extending almost across the whole width and being adapted to receive a flat tape T. Two slots 3, 3a may be provided opening on the same or opposite sides of the plate, and they may be curved towards the centre as at 3b, 3c. A fixed projection or one or more teeth 2b, 2c may be provided on an edge of one or more of the apertures. The fixed projection may be of spiked or square formation and adapted to engage perforations in the tape. The plate may be made of celluloid, metal or other material, and may be slightly curved longitudinally. In use, one end of the tape may be passed from the rear through an aperture 2, across the front, and through the slot 3. The tape may then be threaded through the hem of a garment, and the other end of the tape similarly secured to the other end of the plate.
