372,201. Packeting-machines. UNIVERSELLE CIGARETTENMASCHINENFABRIK J. C. MULLER & CO., 48, Zwickauerstrasse, Dresden, Germany. Aug. 25, 1931, No. 23891. Convention date, Feb. 17. [Class 94 (i).] A feed channel for cigarettes &c. wherein the articles slide downwardly on to a table along which the lowermost layer is pushed forward, is characterized in that the lower part c of the channel is adapted to be widened in a direction lengthwise of the cigarettes to provide for unimpeded downward sliding of the articles, the part c being adapted to be returned to its normal dimensions when the articles have descended on to the table. The wall c, hinged at c<2>, is hingedly attached by a link o to a spring-biased lever p tending always to close the wall c. The pusher e is reciprocated by the mechanism shown and in its retracted position a stop t bears against the lever p to open the wall c when unimpeded downward sliding of the cigarettes between the walls is permitted. In a modification the wall c may have a parallel sliding motion and a drive by gear wheel and rack may replace the swinging lever.
