Abstract
371,756. Endless band conveyers. FEENY, C. J., 73A, Queen Victoria Street, London.-(Mulvany, H. A. ; 780A, San-Luis Road, Berkeley, California, U.S.A.) Oct. 5, 1931, No. 27628. [Class 78 (i).] In an apparatus for conveying eggs or other articles past a sand-blast the conveyer bands 5, 6 pass over pulleys 3, 4, and each band comprises a central steel cable 19 surrounded by a plurality of short lengths of helical spring wire 20 separated by washers 22 and covered by separate rubber sleeves 21. The eggs are rotated while passing through the sanding zone, by rotation of the rubber sleeves and springs around the conveyer cable. For this purpose a number of rollers 30, 31, 32, arranged to impart rotation to parts of the conveyer, are driven by interengaging gears connected through a chain 36 to a shaft 41 which in turn is driven through reduction gears 42 from a motor 43. This motor is also connected by a belt 44 to one of the conveyer pulleys. The rollers 30 are of such length that the eggs which are placed on the conveyer at 50 are rotated after leaving the sanding zone until a point 40 is reached so that the eggs may be inspected after the cleaning operation. Lateral guide-bars 70 are also provided.
