[Class 135.] Check elastic valves ; seats and faces.-A valve assembly for high speed compressors comprises a housing of sheet metal within which is mounted a valve in the form of a lamella, the whole being adapted for detachable mounting as a unit in or on the wall or head of the compressor cylinder. The valves may be made of steel and the cylinders or. walls of light metals or alloys. Fig. 1 shows a simple form in which the valve strip 1 is secured by rivets 8 in a fold of sheet metal forming a slotted seat 4, 5 and a curved stop, the whole being disposed in a slide guide 6 of the compressor body or cylinder wall. Another form shown has a complete housing with a normally curved valve strip, a more curved stop, and a flat seating. Fig. 8 shows another enclosed form with a double curved stop 3 and a double-ended valve 1 seating over a plurality of seating orifices 5, the valve member 1 being supported on bars 7 of the seating 4. Other forms are shown in which the valve lamellµ are confined in a cage the upper part of which forms a buffer chamber, and multiple valve elements of this kind can be produced. Such valves 12, Fig. 16, may be arranged on the side of the cylinder 6 in superposed rows adjacent to the cylinder head 11, the valves at the side being the exhaust valves, and those in the cylinder head, at 13, the suction valves.
