Abstract

370,485. Lawn-mowers. JERRAM, A. E., Inglenook, The Oval, Oadby, near Leicester. Jan. 3, 1931, No. 263. [Class 6 (ii).] A lawn-mower comprises two longitudinal side frames E, a cross frame B<1> carrying a ledger blade B and having a sliding or equivalent connection with the side frames, a cylindrical eccentric shaft or tie-rod B<2> connecting the side frames and supporting the frame B<1>, means to rotate the eccentric tie-rod, and means to secure the cross frame against rotation but leaving it free to move with the eccentric shaft so as to adjust the ledger blade in relation to a rotary cutter D. The frame B<1> is supported on the tie-rod B<2> by bored lugs B<5>, and carries ears B4 having slots adapted slidably to engage flats on a tie-rod E<3>. The tie-rod is rotated by teeth thereon engaging a rotatable worm B<11> seated with a smaller screw thread B<12> in a lug B<5>. Exact parallelism between the ledger blade and cutter is effected initially by an adjustable bush B' wherein one eccentric end B<3> of the tie-rod is mounted. The bush is formed with a flange B<8> which is clamped to the frame by a screw to secure the bush in an adjusted position. The lawn-mower may be provided with back and front rollers, the latter preferably being adjustable by slotted supporting brackets.
