370,308. Feeding-appliances for animals. SIMS & SONS, Ltd., S. and SIMS, R. S. C., Britannia Works, New Whittington, Chesterfield. March 4, 1931, No. 23659. Divided on 360,072. [Class 5 (ii).] An automatic feeder for poultry and the like comprises a trough c or other lower portion, having a conical portion d projecting upwards into a hopper a rotatably mounted upon a bolt or the like e passing through the top of the cone and through a transverse member f within the hopper. The hole in the member f through which the bolt e passes is of slightly greater size than the bolt to allow for lateral play as well as rotation. The hopper a comprises an overhanging cover b and metal strips h for manual rotation of the hopper; the strips h also serve to limit the rocking motion. Alternatively, a platform for operation of the appliance by the birds may be provided. Inclined or curved guide bars may be secured internally of the hopper and legs may be provided on the trough.
