Abstract
370,058. Inhalers. HASSENCAMP, A., 17, Landknechtsstrasse, Freiburg, Breisgau, Germany. Jan. 7, 1931, No. 593. [Class 81 (ii).] An inhaler comprises a cylindrical casing 1 having, slidable thereon, sleeves 2, 3 provided with diametrically opposite holes to receive slightly curved tubes 4 insertable into the nostrils, the tubes passing through elongated slots 8 permitting relative longitudinal adjustment thereof. The tubes have lateral apertures 9a in their lower ends and are secured by blocks 5, fixed in the tubes and screw threaded to receive screws 6 carrying clamping washers 7 shaped to the sleeves 2, 3. The upper ends of the tubes are slotted longitudinally to permit adjustment in shape to the nostrils of the user. Air is admitted through a, number of apertures 12, for example three, in a sleeve 10 on the member 3, the apertures being controlled by an arcuate slot 14 in a cap 13 rotatable on the sleeve 10. The inhaled air passes through a filter wad 15 which may be impregnated with liquid inhalant. The exhaled air passes out through a valve 17 comprising a disc having a seating upon an inturned portion 16 of the sleeve 2 and engaging, during exhalation, with inturned portions 19 at the outer ends of a cruciform slot in a cap 18. The whole appliance is formed of material sterilizable by heating, for example aluminium.
