369,531. Conveying-arrangements in machines for decorticating fibrous plants. JACKSON, L. MELLERSH-, 28, Southampton Buildings, London. - (Krupp Grusonwerk Akt.-Ges., F. ; Buckau, Magdeburg, Germany.) Oct. 5, 1931, No. 27662. [Class 120 (i).] In a machine for stripping pulp from parts of fibrous plants and having endless upper and lower ropes at each working position for feeding and gripping the material, the endless upper rope is guided twice or more than twice over a conveyer pulley and two guide pulleys, a separate tension pulley being provided for all or several of the loops, the pulleys being mounted coaxially so as to rotate independently. In the machine shown, the upper rope 1, Fig. 1, runs in three loops over the conveyer pulley 2 and guide pulleys 3, 4 and each loop is provided with a tension pulley 6, 7 or 8 mounted freely on the shaft 13. The pulleys 2, 3, 4 have three grooves for the rope 1, Fig. 2, and one groove for the lower rope 5 which successively engages the pulleys 11, 4, 2, 3, 9, while the pulleys 7, 8 are smaller than the pulley 6 to avoid rubbing of the crossing laps of the rope 1. The shaft 13 rests in a carriage 14 movable in guides in the arms 16 and under the action of a spring 12 so that the rope 1 is maintained in tension.
