366,621. Machines for cutting chaff &c. EIRICH, L. and EIRICH, J., Hardheim, Baden, Germany. Nov. 15, 1930, No. 34482. Convention date, Nov. 18, 1929. [Class 5 (i).] Chaff or like material is fed to a knife by two endless band conveying devices A, B, the upper A of which is carried by a frame b adapted to rock on pivots c. A toothed driving wheel u, mounted on one of the pivots c, drives the sprocket wheels d of the upper band through a toothed wheel r and the sprocket wheels d of the lower band through wheels s, t. The band A travels at the discharge end C round rollers i on a shaft g that projects at each end into slots e in the frame. Arms o fixed on the shaft g carry toothed sectors meshing with internally toothed sectors p<1> fixed to the housing; a lever p provided with an adjustable weight is secured to one of the arms o and tends to hold the front end of the frame b with the top band A depressed. Guard-plates are fitted on the shaft g and ledges project from the side walls of the housing to support the courses of the band devices. A presser h extends forwardly from two brackets on the frame b the front edge of this frame being set back a little from a lip at the bottom of the discharge opening.
