Abstract

365,908. Floor springs. ADAMS, J. S., 3, Emerald Street,. London. April 27, 1931, No. 12444. [Classes 65 (i) and 65 (ii).] The ingress of water to the casing of a floor spring is prevented by means of a washer compressed about the pivot pin above the casing and waterproof material between the outer cover of the casing and an inner countersunk cover. The Figure shows a floor spring with the outer cover removed. The pivot 2 passes through a raised part of the casing and has a collar 5 just above the casing ; a leather washer 6 is compressed to a conical shape by a metal ring 7, which is pressed downwards by a forked member 8 engaging opposite sides of the ring 7 and held by a screw 10. The remainder of the casing has a countersunk cover 3, and the joints of this are covered by strips 4, or a sheet, of waterproof material which is compressed under the,outer cover of the apparatus.
