365,317. Photographic developing processes. I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE AKT.-GES., Frankfort-on-Main, Germany. Jan. 13, 1931, No. 1173. Convention date, Jan. 13, 1930. [Class 98 (ii).] To avoid the production of air bubbles on the surface of plates, films, and papers during development, a castor oil sulphonic acid or the sulphonic acid of an alkylated or aralkylated aromatic compound or a salt thereof is added to the developing bath or to other baths, e.g. for desensitizing, or a pretreatment bath of the agent is used. Examples are given of developing baths comprising sodium di-butyl naphthalene - alpha - sulphonate, sodium sulphite, potassium carbonate and p-aminophenol or glycine, sodium benzyl-naphthalene-sulphonate, sodium sulphite, potassium carbonate and hydroxy-phenyl-glycine and of a pretreatment bath of castor oil sulphonic acid. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) also describes the use of pyridine. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
