Abstract
364,431. Condensers. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London, and PETERS, W. H., of General Electric Co., Stoke, Coventry. March 16, 1931, No. 8045. [Class 38 (ii).] In a variable condenser one electrode forms part of the circumference of a rotatable drum, a constant circumferential length of which is always engaged by a flexible driving band with which the other electrode is associated. The capacity is varied by rotating the drum so that more or less of the electrode on the drum is included in the said length engaged by the band. In the double ganged condenser shown, the driving band 9 is built up of two separate bands 10, 11, of metal and insulating material, respectively, pegs 12, 13 securing and preventing slipping of the bands. In a modification the metal band 10 may be fixed, and the insulating layer 11 only, caused to act as driving band, slipping under the metal layer.
