[Class 141.] A paper article simulating a handkerchief comprises a number of superimposed sheets 4, 5, 6 of soft cellulose tissue secured together around the edges, the sheets being sealed or compacted together along two opposite edges 8, 9 by pressure along a line, and also being secured together adjacent the edges by lines of indentations 10, 11. The articles 1, 2, 3, may be made in continuous lengths, as shown :.n Fig. 1, the sealing of the edges 8, 9 being effected by wheels 20 which coact with rollers 23 beneath the sheets. The pressure on the wheels 20 may be such as to cut the sheets. The articles 1, 2, 3 may be separated from one another by transverse lines of weakness, e.g. an indented or compressed line, so that they can be torn off, or they may be separated by a pair of spaced lines of indentations 13, 14 in order that the sheets may be severed and sealed together by cutting along a line 17 between the lines of indentations. In order to simulate the hem of a handkerchief more closely, the sheets may te secured together by pressure along a line spaced by the width of the hem from the edge of the sheets, the portions outside the line being folded in and secured by lines of indentations.
