Abstract

Lubricating oils are made by polymerizing olefines such as ethylene, under pressure in the presence of aluminium chloride mixed with metallic aluminium or zinc, preferably in finely powdered form. Polymerization is effected preferably at a temperature of 15 to 20 DEG C. Specification 320,846, [Class 2 (iii), Dyes &c.], is referred to.ALSO:Lubricating oils are made by polymerizing olefines such as ethylene, under pressure in the presence of aluminium chloride mixed with metallic aluminium or zinc, preferably in finely powdered form.
