Abstract

363,704. Moulding asbestos-cement tubes. BARNETT, M. R., 5, Laurel Crescent, Keighley, Yorkshire. Sept. 18, 1930, No. 27847. [Class 87 (ii).] Tubes of asbestos cement are made by applying the material to a cylindrical core in layers 2, 2a, 4a, Fig. 2, with one or more intermediate layers of reinforcement 3a, 3b in the form of encircling strips contacting with each other. Fig. 7 shows a modified construction in which longitudinal reinforcing rods 5a are disposed between two layers of circumferential reinforcement 3, 3b. The socket end of the pipe is reinforced and lined by circumferential strips 9, 10 respectively, Fig. 8, and the spigot end is reinforced by strips 13, 13c.
