Abstract

<PICT:0363358/IV/1> A web 1 of textile fabric is printed, coated with colour, or colour-embossed, by passing it together with a web 7 of moistened linen or other material between one or more printing or embossing rollers 2 and co-operating heated impression rollers 3 which cause steam to be generated from the moistened web to transfer or fix the design. In a modification, the web 7 instead of passing between the rollers 2, 3 passes only between the rollers 12 so that the steaming takes place immediately after the printing &c. operation. Discharge dyes may be employed.
