Abstract
362,910. Gaseous-fuel furnaces. STEIN & ATKINSON, Ltd., 47, Victoria Street, London. - (Chapman-Stein Co. ; Mount Vernon, Ohio, U.S.A.) Sept. 9, 1930, No. 26906. [Class 51. (i).] In a gas-fired furnace of the kind described in Specification 360,528, products of combustion are withdrawn from the flue leading to the chimney and passed under the hearth through the flue 17 to the combustion chamber 1 in front of the burner apparatus. Alternatively the gases may pass through the recuperator 15 and flue 19 to the combustion chamber. In the modification shown in Fig. 2, instead of the combustible gas being supplied to the compartment 3, as in the arrangement described above, it is supplied to passages 20 delivering into or in front of the passages 6 in the front wall of the chamber 3 while combustion products are led from the chimney flue through the flue 17 beneath the hearth to the chamber 3. Instead of the flue 17 being arranged beneath the hearth it may be arranged above. Air for combustion passes from the recuperator through the flue 8 to the chamber 2 where it is supplied by the action of air nozzles 13 into the combustion chamber.
