Abstract
362,124. Magnetic s e p a r a t o r s. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Magnet House, Kingsway, London, and KRAMER, J. B., of Witton Kramer Electric Tool & Hoist Works, Witton, Birmingham. Nov. 11, 1930, No. 33905. [Class 72.] In a magnetic separator of the type in which the material to be treated is carried by a belt 1 over a magnetic pulley 2, the iron &c. adhering to the band, after the non-magnetic material has dropped off, is removed by soft iron plates 7 mounted on pivots 8 carried by a hub 5 mounted in bearings on shafts 6, the latter being driven from the pulley shaft 3. The plates 7 are as wide as the pulley 2 and are held in position by spring-controlled bolts 11 passing through the plates and screwed into projections 9 on the hub 5. The iron &c. removed by the plates 7 is dropped into the shoot 4, the plates when over the shoot losing their magnetization. In a modification, Fig. 2, a soft iron bar 17 is carried by two arms 18 pivoted on pins 20 extending from two levers 19 which are pivoted at 25 to a fixed frame (not shown). The bar 17 is oscillated by an eccentric 26 mounted on reduced parts 27 of the pulley shaft 3, the rods 28 pivotally engaging the pins 20. The arms 18 are kept in the normal position by springs 23 encircling bolts 21 which pass through slots 22 in the arms 18 and are screwed into the levers 19.
