Abstract
361,560. Thermionic cathodes; electrolysis. ALLGEMEINE ELEKTRICITATS-GES., 2, Friedrich Karl-Ufer, Berlin. Oct. 30, 1930, No. 32643. Convention date, Nov. 8, 1929. [Class 39 (i).] An oxide-coated cathode is produced by converting the surface of a tungsten wire electrolytically into barium tungstate and then reducing the surface in an alkaline bath to barium oxide or carbonate ; the wire is preferably oxidized before such treatment. The wire may be subjected to anodic treatment in a baryta lye. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the use of an electrolyte consisting of neutral salts of barium alone or with other salts together with carbonic or oxalic acid forming insoluble salts. A coating of thorium oxide may be produced. A coating of copper may be applied to the treated surface. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
