Abstract

361,169. Looms with automatic weft replenishment. HILDEBRAND, V., 57, Boulevard de la Marne, Mulhouse, Haut- Rhin, France. Dec. 30, 1930, No. 39156. Convention date, Dec. 31, 1929. [Classes 142 (i) and 142 (iii).] Shuttle-changing mechanism.-The lowest shuttle from the magazine 1 is supported by a "hand" 3 and is introduced into the shuttle box from above by a transfer member 7 fixed on a shaft 5, the spent shuttle being ejected through the shuttle box bottom, which comprises parts 18, 19 carried by arms 20, 21 on shafts 22, 23. When, the weft is exhausted &c. a forked lever 16 moves cams on a shaft into position to operate levers 10, 26, which' operate the transfer devices and the shuttle box opening devices respectively. The lever 26 operates a bowl 25 on a lever on the shaft 22, which has a stop b operating a projection s on the lever 21, whereby the parts 18, 19 are moved apart against the action of a spring 24, and the spent shuttle falls out of the box. The shuttle box top plate 41 is carried by the part 18, so that it moves aside with the latter to provide clearance for the entry of the fresh shuttle, whilst the front plate 42 has two notches to receive two fingers 4 supporting the fresh shuttle on the " hand " 3, which is rocked downwards on the shaft 5 against the action of a spring 6, to introduce the fresh shuttle. When the lay moves back with the shuttle box, the fingers 4 leave the fresh shuttle, which remains in the box. The shaft 5 is turned by an arm 8 and unlocking device 9 operated by the lever 10 and the member 7 has a part o for closing the mouth of the magazine 1 when it descends. Checking shuttles ; stop motions.-The shuttle box has two swells 30, 31 carried by trunnions 32, 33 and acted upon by keys or fingers 34, 39. The finger 39 is mounted on an arm 37 fixed to the stop rod, whilst the finger 34 turns in a support 35 and has a finger d resting on the stop rod dagger which stops the loom if the shuttle fails to box. The swells are provided with ears 40 engaged by the plate 18 so as to be moved aside therewith, and release the shuttle during shuttle changing. In case of abnormal resistance the hooking system 13 on the device 9 yields.
